Darren Kay was named Director of Commercial Deposits and First Senior Vice President in April 2017. Kay will lead the banks commercial deposit business from First Bank’s headquarters in Hamilton, NJ. He brings 18 years of banking experience to First Bank where he specializes in servicing commercial clients while providing a range of banking solutions that include a full complement of cash management and lending capabilities. Kay’s philosophy to banking is providing clients a proactive consultative approach where simplicity, efficiency and transparency are at the forefront to the client experience. Kay understands the importance and value of the client experience, particularly in today’s competitive banking landscape where he is dedicated to establishing true client-centric relationships.
Before joining First Bank, Kay served as Group Director and Senior Vice President at Signature Bank, leading a private client banking team in Manhattan where they focused on driving and managing holistic commercial banking relationships. Kay also spent 6 years as the Market Sales Executive at Capital One Bank in Manhattan where he lead a team of 10 bankers focused on business banking across industries such as professional services, real estate management, medical and manufacturing. Kay and his team ranked number one in 2009 and 2011, based on overall deposit and lending growth and overall client retention. He also won the One Award which is celebrated by the top one percent of the company in sales performance.
Prior, Kay was a Senior Business Banker for several years at Bank of America, also in Manhattan, where he was responsible for the acquisition, retention, cross-selling and relationship management of new and existing commercial clients. In this position, Kay consistently ranked in the top fifth percentile as a producer across entire business banking product lines including deposits, credit, cash management and merchant revenue. He was a President Club Winner and three-time Pinnacle Award Winner, both internally awards recognizing sales performance within the organization.
Kay has been in commercial banking for 18 years, during which he has established himself in many roles from relationship management, sale management, business development and leadership. He holds a degree from the University of New York at Delhi. He resides in Manalapan Township.
