Welcome to the Pennington Branch, our fourth branch location in Mercer County! Nestled in the Hopewell Valley, equidistant between the Delaware River and Princeton, Pennington is the perfect place to bring our neighbors-first brand of community banking. With its locally-owned shops and close-knit community feel, Pennington (and the greater Hopewell Valley) personifies the First Bank Welcome Home mindset. Our Pennington location can become the new banking home for community-minded folks located in the boroughs of Pennington and Hopewell as well as Hopewell Township!
Recorded history of the area dates back to the 1600s, when it was a sojourn between Philadelphia and New York called Queenstown. As lodging could be had in one of the town taverns for pennies, the town name was changed to Penny Town in the early 1700s. Not much of a leap, by the middle of the 18th century, it settled into its current name of Pennington. Together with Hopewell Borough and Hopewell Township, the greater Hopewell Valley is steeped in history and tradition, including covering part of the trail Washington’s troops traveled on their way to the Battle of Trenton.
The Pennington branch is located just off of Route 31, only a couple of miles from the Route 295 interchange.
At First Bank, we’re working hard to make you feel like you’re home when you’re banking with us. We care about our neighbors - their financial security and their hopes and dreams. Like family, we won’t always be perfect. But, our mistakes will be honest and our efforts to solve the problem will be complete.
We understand that our brand of banking won’t be for everyone. Some people want branches all over the world. Some people want a variety of non-bank products and services. Still, we know many people want more than just transactions.
We are looking to create something special: a place where people feel welcome and respected; a place where people get treated fairly; and a place where people are valued.
Welcome Home to First Bank… Where our Neighbors Come First
